Meet and Greet Session 14
HSCPN Meet & Greet
Session 14 – Birmingham
29 November 2025
A Day of Insight, Connection, and Celebration in Health and Social Care
Overview
The Health and Social Care Providers Network (HSCPN) successfully hosted its 14th Meet and Greet Session in Birmingham on 29 November 2025. Despite a slightly delayed start, the event commenced at 11 a.m. and quickly gained momentum, offering participants a day filled with engaging presentations, purposeful networking, and forward-thinking discussions. The collaborative atmosphere perfectly embodied the vision behind the HSCPN meet and greet series.
Warm Welcome and Opening Sessions
The session began with heartfelt introductions from MC Danai, alongside event co-ordinator Wilson. Attendees received a brief but essential safeguarding overview before Danai provided an update on the schedule and welcomed the first speaker: Sam from Blue Hector, an expert in care sector finance. Sam’s presentation demystified financial statements and covered vital topics such as HMRC winding-up petitions, CVAs, and the importance of financial responsibility. His practical advice on accurate record-keeping, tax and payroll compliance, safeguarding funds, solvency, and effective delegation struck a chord with providers seeking sustainability in a demanding industry.
Spotlight on Public Health
Next, Takudzwa from Terrence Higgins Trust led an important discussion in recognition of World AIDS Day. He shared impactful statistics about HIV in African communities and globally, emphasising that early treatment enables individuals to lead healthy, fulfilling lives. His message, equal parts awareness and hope, sparked thoughtful conversations amongst attendees.
Special Guest Appearance
Midway through the session, the Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Councillor Zafar Iqbal, joined the event to a standing ovation. Invited by Danai to address the audience, the Lord Mayor’s personal experience as a carer resonated deeply. He acknowledged the challenges faced by providers, carers, and employers, and his presence gave attendees a valuable opportunity to communicate concerns directly to civic leadership.
Striving for Excellence
Godfrey then delivered an inspiring talk on achieving an Outstanding CQC rating. He highlighted the significant difference between “Good” and “Outstanding,” motivating providers to continually strive for improvement. Stressing the importance of absorbing the message rather than just note-taking, he assured that slides would be available for those interested.
Networking and Lunch
Following an engaging photography session with the Lord Mayor, the event shifted gears with music and informal networking. Lunch was served, and the afternoon programme continued with a variety of impactful topics.
Afternoon Sessions
- Breaking the Silence Around Menopause: Vonayi delivered a compelling session urging employers and men to understand the impact of menopause and to implement supportive workplace policies.
- Growth in Complex Care: Providers explored pathways for development in the complex care sector.
- Sponsor Licence Applications and Compliance: Insights were shared into sponsor licence processes and regulatory compliance.
Closing Remarks and Looking Ahead
As the daytime segment concluded, Wilson thanked the sponsors whose support made Session 14 possible and proudly announced that Session 15 will take place in Manchester in April 2026. The HSCPN Meet and Greet series continues to grow in energy and influence, promising even greater collaboration and innovation ahead.
Evening Gala
The evening transformed into a festive gala, with attendees donning evening attire and enjoying lively music from the DJ, a delicious dinner, an exciting raffle, and plenty of dancing and photography. The day ended on a joyful and high-spirited note.
Conclusion
Session 14 was a resounding success—engaging, informative, and rooted in community spirit. HSCPN’s dedication to empowering providers, amplifying vital conversations, and strengthening networks remains clear. With Session 15 on the horizon, even more growth, innovation, and collaboration awaits.
